ForwardX Robotics said its new Flex 60-SW includes a built-in weighing scale and an intuitive touchscreen to increase picking accuracy.

ForwardX Robotics this week launched the Flex 60-SW at Logistic-Tech Tokyo 2023—The Third Innovation Expo. The company said its latest vision-based autonomous mobile robot, or AMR, includes automatic weighing scales and an interactive touchscreen to improve picking accuracy in the warehouse.

“The introduction of Flex 60-SW marks an exciting milestone for ForwardX Robotics,” stated Nicholas Chee, CEO of ForwardX. “We are proud to establish a new standard for excellence in the industry by offering AMRs that not only increase productivity, but also elevate picking operations to truly astonishing levels of precision.”

“This innovation empowers our clients to adeptly navigate the intricate challenges of contemporary logistics, thereby paving the way for their resounding success,” he said in a release.

Flex 60-SW addresses picking challenges

“The significance of picking precision for warehouses cannot be overstated, as it crucially and directly influences customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, cost management, and brand reputation in the fiercely competitive market,” said ForwardX. “Gone are the days of painstakingly manual weighing and potential errors in picking orders.”

The company claimed that the Flex 60-SW's integrated scale will improve picking accuracy, help streamline operations, and eliminate inaccuracies. With real-time weight measurements, warehouse staffers can rely on the AMR to accurately identify and pick the correct items, improving overall efficiency and reducing costly mistakes, it said.

The robot's touchscreen and associated software can be adapted to fit customer needs with informational visuals, bar codes, item quantities, etc., according to FowardX. The company added that it has designed the Flex 60-SW to be integrated easily into existing warehouse operations.

New AMR built for collaboration

The Flex 60-SW has a maximum payload capacity of 60 kg (132.2 lb.) and supports onboard racks, said ForwardX. It said the new AMR builds on its successful collaboration Orbis.

The AMR is equipped with leading multi-sensor fusion technology, computer vision, simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM), and 180-degree obstacle detection and avoidance to navigate complex environments.

With user experience as a priority, FowardX asserted that its new robot optimizes human-machine collaboration for a diverse range of scenarios. Flex 60-SW is the latest addition to the company’s expanding product line, which it said was already the largest in the industry.

ForwardX added that the Flex 60-SW extends its ability to meet the unique demands and use cases of varied end users. It cited the new AMR’s high payload capacity and integrated scale differentiators, especially for retail distribution and e-commerce fulfillment centers.
