GITA USA Secures First Purchase Order From ‘Major Local Space Company’

GITAI USA announced yesterday that it has secured its first purchase order from a “major local space company.” GITAI, headquartered in Toyoko, Japan, said it is developing space robots “designed to build and maintain satellites, space stations, lunar bases, and even cities on Mars.”

The company did not share the local space company it is working with.

Earlier this year, the company announced that it had opened a U.S. headquarters in in Los Angeles, noting that the expansion “marks a significant step in its growth and brings its innovative space robots to a wider market.”

"We are thrilled to fully launch our operations in the US and serve our customers in this market," said Sho Nakanose, GITAI's CEO. "We are proud to have secured our first purchase order from a major local space company, which is a testament to the quality and value of our products and services. We are confident that our unique approach to Agile development of space robots will be well received by the US space industry."

GITAI said it will initially focus on commercial space station support and keep expanding its Los Angeles office. The company plans to hire 50+ new employees in the US in 2023 to support its expansion.

Other robotic space developments

In November, PickNik Robotics announced that it was collaborating with CisLunar Industries, a metal processing company that specializes in space technology.

“The companies will explore how PickNik's MoveIt Space software for robotic arms can help CisLunar with the precision feeding of metal materials into their in-space metal-processing system, Modular Space Foundry,” it said in a release.

“Workflows will include the dismantling, manipulation, transport, and transfer of simulated or actual metal debris into pieces of appropriate size and shape to be fed into the in-space metal processing system,” PickNik added. “The purpose is to support the processing and removal of space debris.”
