InOrbit Inc. today announced an enhancement to its robot operations, or RobOps, software. In response to customer demand, the company said its InOrbit missions capability provides multi-vendor, bidirectional communications with robots fleets of any size.

InOrbit missions works with the recently expanded InOrbit Connect to help developers and end users “harness the full potential of their robotic fleets,” said the Mountain View, Calif.-based company in a release.

“This is the culmination of platform enhancements developed over the past year in response to a growing market need,” stated Florian Pestoni, co-founder and CEO of InOrbit. “InOrbit missions redefines what's possible in the world of multi-vendor robotics.”

InOrbit missions adds dynamic controls

InOrbit said its cloud-based RobOps platform enables efficient robot operations and offers observability through secure, real-time analytics and data collection, robot performance monitoring, incident response, and root-cause analysis.

“Customers can control any robot, from scheduling repeatable tasks to dynamically dispatching robots on their missions, while precisely tracking performance analytics,” the company explained.

InOrbit missions provide multi-vendor traffic management and streamlined workflows for greater efficiency and productivity, it said. Tasks ranging from simple actions to complex, multi-robot behaviors can be easily defined, executed, and analyzed, said InOrbit.

“Robot developers can now leverage a complete white-label system for higher-level robot behavior, saving costly development and maintenance,” said Pestoni. “Additionally, InOrbit missions is a game-changer for end users that unlocks the ability to orchestrate operations, combining all of their robots, equipment, and software with ultimate flexibility and control.”

InOrbit Connect allows for interoperability

InOrbit missions works with InOrbit Connect to give robot developers and end users a way to satisfy customers’ demands for interoperability while still allowing them to differentiate their systems. InOrbit added that its InOrbit Connect certification program allows users across industries to optimize productivity by orchestrating robots from multiple vendors for multiple tasks.

For end users deploying robots at scale, working with InOrbit Connect partners enables them to future-proof their operations, asserted the company. InOrbit said its systems allow for the efficient control of multiple robots, regardless of the vendor, alongside integrated technologies ranging from industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) devices to warehouse management systems (WMS).

InOrbit Connect provides “a fast path to value” by making integrating new robots and missions into operations just a few clicks away, claimed InOrbit. Its ecosystem includes Connect-certified companies such as Geek+, FUJI Innovation Lab, Instock, Ox, SVT Robotics, Peer Robotics, Relay Robotics, SICK, Thira Robotics, Ubiquity Robotics, VisionNav Robotics, and WiBotic.

Ecosystem widens to include more partners

InOrbit said the InOrbit Connect program has expanded beyond autonomous mobile robot (AMR) companies. Robotics users can now access partners such as sensor maker SICK, wireless charging provider WiBotic, and human-robot collaboration firm Ox.

“The InOrbit Connect ecosystem is pivotal for companies like SICK that provide critical technology to the robotics industry,” said David Adams, director of strategy and business exploration at SICK Inc. “As robots become increasingly integral to sectors like logistics and manufacturing, InOrbit Connect offers a strategic avenue for delivering cutting-edge technology, ensuring seamless integration with other systems.”

InOrbit said its customers can look forward to more options and greater flexibility when building and optimizing their robotic fleets. Companies can register for InOrbit Connect and explore the Robot Directory at the company's website.
