At its booth at Manifest this week in Las Vegas, Mujin Corp. is showcasing an exhibit that combines Geekplus Co.’s mobile robots with a robotic picking system.
The companies said they designed the booth to “demonstrate a total order fulfillment solution featuring pick and place robots seamlessly integrating with mobile robots.”
“This solution automates the process of creating mixed orders from single-SKU containers, delivering increased value for end users,” Mujin said in a release yesterday.
Manifest runs from Jan. 31 to Feb. 2 at the Caesars Forum in Las Vegas. Mujin and Geek+ are among the hundreds of companies attending the logistics and supply chain trade show and conference. Mujin is located at booth 321.
How does the demo work?
To start off, Geek+’s robots, carrying totes, collect single SKU products from an automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS). From there, the AMRs bring those products to a picking robot, which picks from the totes to fulfill an order.
Mujin develops technologies and services for customers in the materials handling sector. The Tokyo-based company said its Mujin Controller was designed to allow customers to program their robot arms more easily to complete palletizing, depalletizing, and piece-picking tasks.
“Mujin’s goal is to deliver production-ready systems to end-users by combining proven technologies from its partners with its Mujin Controller platform that leads in motion planning and vision technologies vital to powering the next-generation of automation,” said Ross Diankov, Mujin US CEO and cofounder, in a statement.
“By partnering with Geek+, one of the leaders in mobile robot technologies, Mujin will be able to accelerate its total solution deployment in North America,” he added.
Beijing-based Geek+ sells a range of AMR systems designed for warehouse and logistics markets. Its robots have been used for picking, storing, and sorting.
“Geek+ is excited to partner with Mujin to develop cutting-edge solutions combining two revolutionary technologies to further augment warehouse and distribution center operations,” said Randy Randolph, vice president of channels and partnerships at Geek+ America, in a statement. “With Geek+’s full-product portfolio covering every aspect of mobile robotics automation, Mujin can now offer its customers complete, end-to-end warehousing solutions.”
Mujin to host panel on warehouse robotics
Mujin will also be hosting the “You Are Ready for Robots in the Warehouse” panel. Representatives from Mujin, Geek+, FANUC, and Walmart will make up the panel.
“The panel will provide valuable insights on the latest advancements in robotics and automation the warehouse and logistics industry,” Mujin said.
