Remote. It unveils new scripting API for IoT fleet management

GraphQL powered API compatible with 5G, Starlink satellite networks

Remote. It’s new scripting API is intended to enable security and software updates and fleet maintenance for IoT devices without the need to use individual SSH protocols.
Remote. It’s latest SaaS scripting API of IoT networks powered by GraphQL is compatible with Linux and Windows and can operate over 5G and Starlink satellite networks.

Software-as-a-service (SaaS)-based network connectivity management platform Remote. It recently unveiled its new scripting application programming interface (API).

Leveraging the power of GraphQL open-source data query and manipulation language, Remote. It said its latest technology can empower customers to oversee and enhance an extensive range of devices, including internet of things (IoT) devices deployed in various environments. The API facilitates configuration updates, software upgrades, and data capture, which the company said can streamline operations across any fleet.

“Clever First Aid relies on Remote. It's scripting solution to manage our entire fleet without logging into each individual device,” said Steve Mann, Clever First Aid CTO. “This empowers us to focus on driving innovation and delivering exceptional experiences to our customers, while ensuring the highest levels of security and performance across our network.”

API can deliver software and security updates across diverse environments

Remote.IT said IoT deployments are met with a multitude of challenges, including the management of diverse device types with unique firmware and update mechanisms, alongside connectivity constraints that hinder reliable delivery of updates. This is especially true in environments with intermittent connectivity.

Effective device management is crucial amidst varied deployment schedules and requirements, including ensuring devices remain up-to-date and secure, Remote.IT said. Additionally, capturing and analyzing data from devices distributed across diverse environments poses challenges due to differing formats and protocols, which the company said furthers the need to streamline operations across IoT fleets. Remote. It said it can provide a catalyst for unleashing the full potential of a company’s digital infrastructure.

“We live in a world that is fully connected, but managing and maintaining fleets of networked assets remains an extraordinarily labor-intensive task,” says Ryo Koyama, Remote. It CEO and co-founder. “Like our Connectivity as Code solution for secure remote access, developers can programmatically manage their endpoints with just an API call. The days of SSHing [Secure Shell protocol] into each endpoint are gone forever.”

Remote. It said its new scripting API offers the following device management options:

  • Centralized Control: Command an entire fleet of devices effortlessly with a single API command.
  • Flexibility: Customize script execution across fleets, targeting devices by type, version, or custom tags.
  • Integration: Incorporate the API into applications, which can enhance their functionality, such as scheduling.
  • Advanced Scripting Capabilities: Improve operational efficiency by uploading files directly to devices.
  • Real-Time Oversight: Gain detailed insights with comprehensive script status and reporting for monitoring.
  • Optimized IoT Support: Fully compatible with IoT devices over Starlink satellite and 5G networks.
  • Autonomous Operations: Execute ad-hoc scripts remotely, eliminating the need for manual SSH access.
  • Scalability: Execute scripts concurrently across numerous devices, with the potential to streamline processes.
  • Universal Language Compatibility: Utilize any interpreted language available on operating systems for script creation.
  • Platform Compatibility: Supports Linux and Windows-based systems, covering various operational environments.
  • Subscriber Benefits: Available exclusively to commercial paid plan subscribers, offering dedicated service and premium support.
