China-based robot manufacturer UBTECH Robotics announced that its new humanoid robot, the Walker S2, can autonomously swap batteries.

The company stated that this development represents the world’s first humanoid robot capable of swapping batteries independently. The process, demonstrated in the video below, takes roughly three minutes.

In a Shenzen warehouse, Walker S2 moves over to a charging station to replace its battery with a new one. UBTECH Robotics built Walker S2 with a dual-battery system to enable the autonomous swapping feature.

Multiple Chinese automotive companies, including Nio and Zeekr, have tested UBTECH humanoids in their warehouses.

Walker S2 is the newest humanoid from UBTECH’s Walker S line. UBTECH stated that with this autonomous battery swapping capability, the Walker S2 can operate continuously.
