Expanding its presence globally, Caja Robotics sees Europe as an important market for growth.

Caja Robotics has entered into an agreement with European systems integrator Fives. Caja said the partnership is part of its effort to expand its presence in the Southern European market.

By working together, both companies said they will help each other become bigger players in the European warehouse automation space. A particular advantage of the cooperation is Fives’ extensive in-house experience and resources, Caja said. It added that expertise will help Caja tailor its solution to the requirements of a wide range of customers and target industries.

Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Binyamina, Israel, Caja Robotics said it develops software and hardware to help warehouses increase their order picking and storage capacity. The company said it has developed a solution for the flexible and scalable automation of warehouse logistics operations by combining powerful robots, intelligently planned picking stations and AI-supported software.

As part of its software suite, the company said it offers swarm management, simulation, and 4D navigation.

The company makes two mobile robots – the Lift and Cart. The Lift is used for replenishment of shelves and vertical warehouse optimization, while the Cart is used for picking and horizontal warehouse optimization.

“We are glad to have found a partner in Fives who attaches great importance to further developing our solution together with us. At the same time, we benefit from Fives’ sales strength. This is essential for our expansion on the European market,” said Ilan Cohen, chairman and CEO of Caja Robotics.

Cohen told Robotics 24/7 the company has one other European systems integrator partner. Cohen said the U.S. is the company's biggest market, with installations in California, Indiana, Kentucky, and New Jersey.

Fives is headquartered in Paris France and said it offers technologies services to the fast-moving goods consumer industry, catering to the postal and courier, e-commerce, manufacturing, and airport markets.   The company has been around for more than 200 years. In 2021, Fives’ turnover was €1.7 billion ($1.78 billion), with close to 8,200 employees in 25 countries.

Advanced software and specialized in-house robots to change the world of logistics

Caja Robotics said its solutions will bolster Fives’ technology portfolio and expand its piece picking offerings in the apparel and footwear sectors.

That in turn will help its customers meet the challenges of omnichannel automation, while giving Caja Robotics the extra boost needed to tackle the Southern European market.

“Automated warehouses are a competitive advantage for mastering the challenges of the future. Our customers also see it that way, which is why we want to proactively develop solutions for their requirements together with Caja Robotics,” said Massimiliano Fochetti, global executive vice president of sales and marketing for Fives’ smart automation solutions division.

Controlled by Caja’s cloud-based advanced fleet management, the robots move cartons and bins between the picking stations and the shelves and thus constantly optimize goods management and the entire warehouse operation.

Caja said its  warehouse technology can be easily adapted to the existing warehouse structure, could readapt later with the changing needs, and is flexible enough to handle peaks in orders.

The solution is particularly fitted for the specific requirements of industries with fluctuating throughput figures, such as e-commerce and retail logistics, the company argued.
