Newsight has taken the wraps of its new lidar reference design, which is based on NSI9000 image sensor with 1024X480 pixel resolution.

Newsight Imaging Ltd. last week launched a Multi-Triangulation lidar reference design that it said enables full 3D mapping by a single scan with 480 depth points and supports a depth resolution of 20um - 1mm.

MT LiDAR 3.1 is based on the NSI9000 image sensor with 1024X480 pixel resolution and on-chip peak detection feature demonstrating Newsight’s multi-triangulation technology. The company said the chip was specially designed for ultra-high accuracy for short-distance measurement applications.

“Building on our years of experience in chip design to create the most advanced 3D and spectral sensors, we are excited to introduce our new MT LiDAR 3.1 reference design,” said Eli Assoolin, co-Founder and CEO of Newsight.

“Utilizing our multi-triangulation technology specially designed for ultra-high accuracy for short-distance measurement applications, this new architecture will support solutions across robotics and industrial automation markets,” Assolin said. “We look forward to presenting MT LiDAR 3.1 at the upcoming Hannover Messe conference.”

The company said MT LiDAR 3.1 is now available to customers for rapid development of their full solution based on Newsight chips and technology and is highly configurable for different applications.

It is flexible in coping with different scenarios and lighting conditions, the company added.
