McMurray Stern, an automated storage integrator, has partnered with robotics providers including Addverb to build a Tech Center for live demonstrations.

McMurray Stern and Addverb Technologies Pvt. today opened a warehouse automation Tech Center to industry stakeholders, partners, and technology enthusiasts. The partners said they have spent years planning for this grand unveiling.

“We are thrilled to open our Tech Center in Santa Fe Springs, [Calif.],” stated Pat Fitzpatrick, vice president of sales and marketing of McMurray Stern. “This facility represents our commitment to delivering cutting-edge storage solutions that can transform businesses and organizations. We invite everyone to come and explore the future of storage technology with us.”

McMurray Stern said its teams include factory-trained employees, capable of professionally managing automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) projects from concept to execution. The specialty contractor added that its crews are responsible for design, order placement, planning, site meetings, installation, and service and maintenance.

McMurray Stern built Tech Center to demonstrate innovations

The Tech Center concept began several years ago when McMurray Stern recognized the need to elevate its presence in the automated storage sector. The company said its experience, especially through its partnership with Spacesaver, led it to see untapped opportunities beyond traditional shelving and racking.

“To bridge this gap and provide clients with a tangible understanding of these innovations, a physical representation of groundbreaking technology was essential,” said McMurray Stern.

The company added that Tech Center is intended to offer customers an immersive experience, “allowing them to gain a profound understanding of technology in the context of warehouse automation.”

The new center provides a “a dynamic space where visitors can witness solutions firsthand and envision their applications within their own operations,” it said.

McMurray Stern said its “state-of-the-art” Tech Center features working articulated and mobile robots showcasing storage, order fulfillment, decanting, sorting, and shipping applications. The company asserted that this positions it as not only a leading innovator in warehouse automation, but also a provider of “unique, tailored solutions” for its clients.

Addverb a key partner

McMurray Stern collaborated with technology partners including Addverb to bring this vision to life. This joint effort, supported by both companies' hardware and software engineering teams, resulted in the Tech Center.

Other partners include HAI Robotics, FANUC, and SSI Schaefer.

“This facility offers an immersive, hands-on experience that would enable clients across North America to grasp the benefits and ROI [return on investment] potential of warehouse automation,” explained Sriram Sridhar, chief revenue officer of Addverb Americas.

Addverb has provided hardware for sortation, point-to-point transportation, and carton shuttling. McMurray Stern added that it chose Addverb's warehouse management software (WMS) to oversee operations, integrating third-party robotic hardware and software.

Founded in 2016, Addverb said its robots and software use artificial intelligence to serve the global e-commerce, warehouse and distribution, and manufacturing industries. The Noida, India-based company recently partnered with Amazon Web Services to improve warehouse robot performance and opened a “smart factory” with Purdue University. Its U.S. offices are in Irvine, Calif.

Addverb recently rebranded as it continues expanding its robotics presence.
