RightHand Robotics, whose RightPick 3 system automates piece picking, is working with partners such as Element Logic and AutoStore to help customers automate order fulfillment.

RightHand Robotics Inc. today announced the launch of its Partner Integrator program, which it said establishes an ecosystem of robotic piece-picking products and complementary warehouse technologies for order fulfillment. Element Logic, a leading European intralogistics company, has joined the program as a charter member.

The companies said they will jointly create automation for predictable, resilient, and cost-effective handling of goods at scale.

“At RightHand Robotics, we’ve learned that customers absolutely need two things: streamlined integration and overall system reliability,” stated Leif Jentoft, co-founder and chief strategy officer of RightHand Robotics. “That’s why we have enjoyed developing this relationship with the Element Logic team, who share our commitment to delivering exceptional customer value built on leading robotics and AI technology.”

Members of a DARPA challenge-winning team from Harvard Biorobotics Lab, the Yale GRAB Lab, and MIT founded RightHand Robotics in 2015. The Somerville, Mass.-based company applies computer vision and machine learning for its RightPick piece-picking system. RightHand raised $66 million in Series C funding last month.

Partnership program intended to ease robotics adoption

RightHand Robotics said its Partner Integrator program will make it easier for end customers to adopt robotic picking by working with their preferred automation suppliers.

“The Partner Integrator program aligns business goals of system integrators, OEM technology providers, certified robot integrator partners, and other related sales alliance members,” said Paul Eyre, director of global channels at RightHand Robotics. “The program offers strategic, commercial, and technical engagement such that companies can develop and build comprehensive solutions that are powered by RightHand Robotics' award-winning RightPick item-handling technology.”

Founded in 1985, Element Logic designs and installs customized systems to streamline warehouse workflows. The Kløfta, Norway-based company said its robotics offerings, materials handling systems, software, and consulting services help customers in industries including electronics, third-party logistics (3PL), pharmaceuticals, and apparel and sporting goods. It also claimed that it is “the world's first and largest” AutoStore partner.

“We’re excited to formally become a member of the Partner Integrator program,” said Håvard Hallås, chief commercial officer at Element Logic. “We chose to partner with RightHand Robotics for its breadth of robotic picking expertise and a straightforward approach to system integration.”

“With surging online commerce placing great stress on fulfillment centers, now was the time to create a one-stop solution to ease our customers’ business pain,” he added. “Our technology and AutoStore, combined with the RightPick system, creates a new future for warehouse automation.”

Element Logic is employee-owned, with private equity company Castik Capital as the majority owner. It reported turnover of over €200 million ($220 million U.S.) in 2021.

RightHand, Element Logic collaborate on eOperator

Through previous collaboration, Element Logic introduced the eOperator robot arm, which uses machine learning. It handles goods stored in AutoStore's automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) using the RightPick AI software. Element Logic said its eManager software provides visibility and optimized performance for the management and control of the whole solution.

When a customer places an order online, this system transfers the proper item from its inventory storage location in the AutoStore cube storage zone directly into an outbound order container without any manual touch. The robot can pick and place thousands of different products, fulfilling e-commerce orders efficiently and correctly every time, said the companies.

An AutoStore installation at Solar A/S, a leading European company serving the electrical, plumbing, and ventilation sectors, includes eOperator. Since the RightPick implementation, the company said its picking productivity has significantly increased.

eOperator is available at two demonstration centers in Kløfta, Norway, and Bad Friedrichshall, Germany. Customers have access to experts, can see the system in operation, and can conduct pick tests with representative products.

RightHand Robotics will be at Booth B8622 at MODEX 2022, from March 28 to 31, 2022 in Atlanta. Element Logic's Hallås will describe the joint offering in a “Piece Talk,” live at RightHand's booth, at 11:00 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, March 29.

At LogiMAT 2022 in Stuttgart, Germany, from May 31 to June 2, RightHand Robotics will present RightPick 3 in Hall 7, Stand A61. Element Logic will demonstrate eOperator at Hall 1, Stand H21.

Based in the Netherlands, apo.com Group, a leader in automated online pharma, has invested in a fleet of RightHand Robotics' RightPick piece-picking robots to integrate with its cube storage automation from AutoStore.
