Contactile is showcasing its GAL2 2-finger angular gripper with tactile feedback control. The GAL2 combines Contactile's patented optical tactile sensing technology with real-time closed-loop control to deliver adaptive, reliable gripping across a wide range of objects and tasks. It grips objects reliably without over- or under-squeezing, without additional programming for each new object, and without the fine-tuning that conventional grippers require. By integrating Contactile's PapillArray tactile sensors directly into the gripper fingertips, the GAL2 adjusts grip force automatically to maintain a stable, optimal hold. At the core of the GAL2 are Contactile's proprietary tactile sensors. Each tactile sensor measures 3D forces, 3D torque, slip onset and friction in real time - all at sampling rates of 500 Hz. This data feeds directly into the GAL2's onboard control loop, which responds dynamically by applying the optimal grip force to prevent dropping or damaging the object.
