1. Teledyne acquires FLIR Systems for $8B

Teledyne Technologies Inc. announced that it acquired FLIR Systems Inc. for cash and stock worth about $8 billion on Jan. 4. Robotics is a part of each company’s portfolio. Thousand Oaks, Calif.-based Teledyne produces instrumentation, digital imaging products and software, aerospace and defense electronics, and engineered systems. Arlington, Va.-based FLIR makes thermal imaging systems for defense and industrial applications. In 2019, FLIR itself bought unmanned ground systems contractor Endeavor Robotics.
