Hybrid autonomy through the sense of touch: How haptic feedback and AI shape the human-cobot relationship

Haptic feedback provides real-time information about forces and interactions between the robot and the environment. The relationship between humans and cobots requires specific sensors, forces and data to generate the precise movements required for applications and for operator safety. Innovations in force torque sensors provide the haptic feedback required to safely operate cobots in various industrial environments. Further development of artificial intelligence will expedite the collaborative element of these machines and their human counterparts.

This session will examine the hardware and software elements associated with cobots, and how technological advancements will further define collaborative robots and their role in the human-cobot relationship.

Panelists

Klajd Lika ,
CEO of Bota Systems
Klajd Lika is the CEO and Founder of Bota Systems. Originally from Albania and grown up in Greece, Klajd finished his studies in mechanical engineering in Athens. After 3 years of research on Legged Robots (including humanoids and quadrupeds), and force torque sensors for legged robots, he moved to Zurich to start his own robotics company and worked at ETH Zurich University. While at ETH, Klajd developed multiple force torque sensors for advanced robots like ANYmal, Drones and Mobile manipulators. He founded Bota Systems with two more founders. In 2020, Bota Systems spun off from ETH and became an independent stock corporation. In the 4 years since its founding, he has been leading the business activities and he is still involved in the sensor design and technology. The company has continued to grow and further expand its force torque sensor portfolio and application solutions in existing and new markets like AI for robotics.
