Exotec has continued its expansion in North America and worldwide.
Exotec said it plans to hire more than 200 employees by the end of the year as it continues to expand its warehouse automation presence in Asia, Europe, and North America.

Exotec SAS last week said it has reached the business milestone of more than 100 customer sites around the world. The Croix, France-based company said it is increasing its global headcount by 80% year over year.

“Reaching more than 100 customer sites signals an important milestone for our business and the momentum of the warehouse robotics category,” stated Romain Moulin, co-founder and CEO of Exotec. “Leading brands trust Exotec not only to improve operational efficiency and augment their human workforces in the warehouse, but [also to] use it as a driving force to reinvent their entire supply chains.”

Exotec said it combines hardware and software to offer “elegant,” flexible goods-to-person robots that can improve efficiency, add resilience, and improve working conditions for warehouse operations. The company's customers include Carrefour and UNIQLO.

Exotec expands around the world

North America to be one-third of business

Exotec noted that it entered the North American market in 2020, “ready to take on the world's largest economy.” The company now has more than 70 employees at its North American headquarters in Atlanta and it plans to continue hiring to support strong customer demand in the region.

Currently, Exotec has over 20 customer sites across the U.S. and Canada for leading brands including GEODIS, Gap Inc., Ariat, and Decathlon. It said it expects the North American market to represent one-third of its global business by 2025.

Western Europe sees expansion

In Western Europe, Exotec claimed new customer wins and expansions into new countries.

In April 2023, it solidified its presence in the U.K. market with a “significant” customer partnership with Alliance Automotive Group (AAG), a European leader in the automotive aftermarket industry.

In June, Exotec collaborated with CEVA Logistics to deliver 57 robots to two sites in the Netherlands. In July, the company partnered with Lyreco, a global office supply distributor, to deliver robots to its distribution center in France.

Central Europe continues growing

Exotec said that it is continuing rapid growth in Central Europe. The company recently announced its partnership with Polish Integrator A1 Sorter, which already resulted in a joint project with ILS, a logistics service provider for the automotive industry.

A1 Sorter and Exotec plan to equip a fulfillment center at the headquarters of ILS in Zakroczym, Poland, with its Skypod system.

APAC a particular focus

As one of the world's fastest-growing markets, Exotec said the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region has been a particular focus as it expands across the globe.

In August, the company announced it had entered the Korean region with a partnership with POSCO DX Co., an engineering and IT service provider. Exotec said that South Korea is the second Asian country after Japan to adopt its systems, and it represents a strategic market for the company.

In Japan, Exotec continued its record growth, including deals to deliver its Skypod robots to integrated logistics provider Alps Logistics and fulfillment service provider acca international. It also opened a demonstration center in Tokyo in June.

Warehouses a 'compelling' market

Last year, Exotec raised $335 million in Series D funding and announced that it had manufactured its 4,000th robot. Last month, the company was listed in the the first edition of the LETS mapping of leading European technology companies.

“Amid global economic uncertainty, prolonged labor shortages, and rising consumer expectations, warehouse automation emerges as a compelling market opportunity,” said Christian Resch, partner at the growth equity business within Goldman Sachs Asset Management. “We believe Exotec is well-positioned to take advantage of this opportunity due to their unique approach to engineering, innovation, and a proven track record of success helping the world's largest brands.”
