Geek+ Mobile Robots Picked 10B Items in 2022

Geek+ said its mobile robots have saved labor and emissions.

CHICAGO -- Geekplus Technology Co. this week announced that its combined worldwide fleet of robots picked 10 billion pieces over the past year. The company said its goods-to-person picking systems have covered great distances, handled huge volumes of stocks, and, as a result, contributed greatly to the goals of making logistics more efficient and sustainable.

"We are very proud of what we have achieved recently," said Yong Zheng, founder and CEO of Geek+. "The amount of merchandise that our robots have handled, coupled with the savings in time and energy, demonstrate that mobile robots are a technology for today's problems and a brighter future."

In 2022, Geek+ said it has added projects, expanded its collaboration with existing clients, and continued to learn from its successes. The company optimized the software behind its warehouse management system (WMS) to boost robot efficiency by 15%.

Systems to modernize warehouses

Geek+ said its picking robots traveled more than 175 million km (108.7 million mi.) throughout the year, which is more than the distance from the Earth to the sun. Each day, the number of items managed by Geek+ robots and WMSes reached as much as 750 million.

The company, which has offices in Beijing and San Diego, said its robots and software saved customers more than 17,000 hours of laborious manual tasks during the year.

By switching from manual to robotic processes, these operators could replace inefficient logistics equipment with autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) that do not require electric lighting, heating, or air conditioning, Geek+ said.

The result was a savings of over 16 million kilowatt-hours of energy. This is equivalent to 140,000 tons of carbon emissions, said Geek+. To transport the equivalent amount of coal would require 887 trains.

Geek+ exhibits for North American market at ProMat

Since 2019, Geek+ has deployed more than 4,000 robots in 24 locations in North America. In 2022, Geek+ secured partnerships to expand into Canada and Brazil.

In addition, Geek+ has expanded its operations by adding a 1,400-sq.-m (15,069) experience center and two new offices in North America with over 100 employees. The company said it plans to continue improving and enhancing its technology, and it expects further gains in sustainability and efficiency in 2023.

"The United States is one of the most important countries for us, and seeing the enthusiasm there is here for new automation technology is extremely exciting," said Zheng at ProMat 2023. "I'm confident that our team and our technology can push Geek+ toward new heights of excellence."

At ProMat, the company is showing latest version of its award-winning PopPick system, the upgraded M200C mobile robot, its new Vertical Sorting Wall, and the high-density Four-Way Shuttle storage system. It is at Booths N7507 and N7307 in McCormick Place.
