Rotaku opened reservations for its Domo humanoid robot platform, offering its basic model for under $3,000.

Rotaku, a Silicon Valley-based startup, has opened reservations for Domo, a compact humanoid robot platform built for hands-on robotics development.

The company, and according to its LinkedIn, is “building the world’s first low-cost, high-performance humanoid robot platform designed to become the physical intelligence infrastructure for humanity.”

Humanoid robot for under $3,000

Rotaku said that the Domo lineup starts at $2,999 and is designed for users working on motion control, robot interaction, teleoperation, manipulation and embodied AI. The company said that its platform is intended to help more builders move from simulation and software development into real humanoid robot testing.

“Humanoid robotics should not only be available to large companies with large budgets,” said Takuzen Lu, founder of Rotaku. “Domo is built for people who want to test, learn and build with real humanoid hardware.”

Rotaku said that Domo was developed around a common challenge in robotics: software tools, simulation environments and AI models are becoming easier to access, but physical humanoid hardware remains expensive and difficult for many smaller teams to obtain.

Domo lineup includes three configurations

The company said that the Domo lineup includes three configurations.

  • Domo Basic starts at $2,999 and is intended for entry-level development, education and basic humanoid interaction.
  • Domo Developer is priced at $3,998 and is built on the compact Domo platform, which stands about 90 cm / 35.4 inches tall and weighs around 20 kg. The company said that the Developer version adds SDK support, URDF files, simulation workflows and whole-body policy training tools for users working on teleoperation, manipulation, motion control and simulation-to-real testing.
  • Domo Plus Developer is priced at $9,899 and offers a larger humanoid platform for more advanced projects. The robot stands about 130 cm / 51.2 inches tall and weighs around 35 kg, with support for full-body control, locomotion research, manipulation, teleoperation and embodied AI development.

Supporting hands-on humanoid development

The company said that Domo is positioned as a development platform rather than a finished deployment system, giving users a way to test, iterate and learn on real humanoid hardware without the need for enterprise-level robot systems.

Optional add-ons include:

  • Teleoperation kits
  • AI compute upgrades
  • Lidar navigation
  • Dexterous hand options
  • Extra battery packs
  • Policy training support

Reservations are currently open.
