University of Colorado students welcomed to Swisslog Healthcare's facility for a "Reverse Interview Day" to discover engineering and automation in the healthcare industry.

Swisslog Healthcare, a supplier of transport and pharmacy automation offerings, invited University of Colorado Boulder students for a Reverse Interview Day tour at the company’s Technology Center.

Students interviewed Swisslog Healthcare professionals about their career journeys while touring facilities that showcase how robots and smart technology save lives in hospitals.

Automation and engineering in healthcare

The October 2025 event highlighted possibilities for engineering students with technology and automation in the healthcare industry.

"Visiting Swisslog Healthcare is a great opportunity to see engineering in action. Their robotic and pneumatic systems touch on so many different areas of what the students learn in class, from fluid mechanics to electronics and programming," said Katherine Pickens McConnell, scholar in residence at CU Boulder Mechanical Engineering. "It’s a great opportunity to be able to talk with different members of their team and learn about their technology."

Swisslog Healthcare provided students with access to the company’s facility, where they observed live demonstrations of automated medication management systems and the TransLogic pneumatic tube system that transports medications, lab samples and supplies throughout hospitals.

"Anticipating tomorrow’s healthcare challenges necessitates technical skills in robotics, software development and systems integration that today's engineering students are developing," said Amanda Costanzi, head of global marketing & communications at Swisslog Healthcare. "College students may have arrived with specific career paths in mind, but after touring the Technology Center and picking the brains of our professionals, they saw how their skills can apply to many roles in the workforce."

Swisslog Healthcare announced a partnership in September 2025 with Diligent Robotics to enhance hospital logistics.

As part of its North American headquarters, the Swisslog Healthcare Technology Center offers an immersive test-and-learn environment and showroom for training and education, along with customer evaluation of pharmacy automation offerings and pneumatic tube systems. The tour gave students an interactive experience, showcasing the impact of robotics and automation in healthcare.
