Veo Robotics Inc., which is building technology to make industrial robots safer around people, today announced that it is partnering with Calvary Robotics as its first certified systems integrator partner.

Waltham, Mass.-based Veo Robotics uses advanced computer vision and 3D sensing to give standard industrial robots the ability to perceive and respond to their surroundings so they can work safely alongside humans. By providing safe interactions between humans and robots, manufacturers can build more fluid, efficient, and flexible production lines, said the company. Veo currently partners with the four major robot manufacturers: FANUC, Yaskawa, ABB, and Kuka.

Webster, N.Y.-based Calvary Robotics was founded in 1994 in Rochester, N.Y., and said it designs and develops custom turnkey automation, robotic platforms, and material handling systems. The company also has experience in tooling and fabricated components, product development, and commercialization, and large-scale repetitive manufacturing. Calvary has more than 280 employees and serves many product markets including medical, automotive, consumer goods, electronics, energy, and food and beverage.

Calvary to carry Veo Robotics' FreeMove

Calvary Robotics will include FreeMove, Veo Robotics’ flagship product, as part of its offerings. FreeMove is 3D safeguarding system designed to turn standard industrial robots into machines that can safely work with humans. Veo said its team will provide training to the Calvary team on how to install FreeMove in various manufacturing settings.

“We are thrilled to partner with Calvary Robotics as our first certified systems integrator,” stated Patrick Sobalvarro, co-founder and CEO of Veo Robotics. “This partnership will help us establish strong customer relationships with manufacturing engineers and improve flexibility in manufacturing so they better incorporate safe, dynamic, and effective human-robot collaboration.”

“Veo Robotics has created a first-of-its-kind safeguarding system that significantly reduces the cost and complexity of human-robot collaboration,” said Joe Gemma, global vice president of sales and marketing at Calvary Robotics. “We are excited to offer their FreeMove system as part of our solution.”

Veo Robotics said this is the first of its systems integrator partnerships enabling the company to provide its FreeMove system to customers in markets such as automobile manufacturing and durable goods manufacturing.

“This partnership is the first in our certified systems integrator network,” said Molly McCarthy, vice president of sales and business development at Veo, in a blog post. “We look forward to announcing more soon.”

Increasingly, manufacturing applications that need the speed and strength of industrial robots also need the dexterity and versatility that only people can provide. FreeMove from Veo Robotics is a new comprehensive 3D safeguarding solution that makes workcells with human robot collaboration safer, easier to design and integrate, and more flexible than previously possible.
