Autonomous inventory robots

Advances in navigation technology have led to Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags that enable warehouse robots to autonomously perform inventory management tasks that have been set up by the warehouse management system (WMS). Shown here is an Xbotics LLC inventory robot.

Even though the initial investment for an autonomous inventory robot is quite high — approximately $50 per robot — they can facilitate inventory management and waste reduction, and thereby help save a tremendous amount of costs in terms of operations and labor.
