Automate 2026: ABB Robotics delivers new industry-ready physical AI

ABB Robotics

ABB Robotics will highlight a variety of technologies at Automate 2026 in Chicago.

ABB Robotics said that it will bring physical AI to life at Automate 2026 in Chicago, featuring a wide range of demonstrations, including the debut of its Physical AI Toolchain.

The company said that this showcases a software stack spanning data generation, training and validation, deployment and optimization - to enable industrial-grade accuracy in robot AI models.

ABB Robotics at Automate 2026

Following ABB Robotics’ partnership with NVIDIA in March 2026, which the companies said closed the sim-to-real gap with RobotStudio HyperReality, ABB Robotics will reveal more details about the software stack behind its Physical AI Toolchain at Automate 2026.

The company said that this training process enables connected robots to learn from fully simulated, synthetic and real-world data and apply it to real-world operations with industrial-grade accuracy.

“For decades, industrial robots have operated within fixed, pre-programmed routines,” said Marc Segura, president of ABB Robotics. “Now physical AI fundamentally changes how robots operate and the value they create. Through Autonomous Versatile Robotics (AVR), we have been equipping robots with new capabilities: eyes to see, hands to handle and the mobility to move through their environment, enabling them to perform faster, safer and smarter across a broader range of applications. Now, with the debut of our Physical AI Toolchain, we’re enabling robots to be trained faster and more accurately using simulated, synthetic or real data, bridging simulation and real-world performance with unprecedented precision. We look forward to revealing more about this at Automate.”

Through a wide range of on-stand demonstrations, ABB Robotics said that it will also showcase the six capabilities at the core of Autonomous Versatile Robotics (AVR) - from intuitive human-machine interaction, to intelligent sensing and perception, autonomous learning and reasoning, precise motion control, navigation and dexterity.

The specially zoned ABB Robotics stand demos will include the following highlights:

  • Seamless collaboration
    • Automate 2026 will mark the show debut of ABB Robotics new, high-speed, higher payload PoWa cobot family, alongside ABB Robotics’ new exclusive collaboration with Aura Sensae; a pioneer in intelligent capacitive sensing. ABB said that combining a GoFa surface finishing demo with Aura Sensae’s patented HEXOPUS safe proximity sensing technology enables the robot to sense, understand and respond dynamically to human presence in real time.
    • ABB collaborative robots and autonomous mobile robots will be working together to inspect, assemble, paint and deliver a component in one connected process, showing the flexibility of cobots to handle a range of possible tasks with the simple addition of accessories.
  • Smarter vision
  • Intuitive interaction
    • ABB said that advancements in intuitive interfaces, demonstrating the potential for robot interaction beyond fixed hardware, and the ability to bring true vision intelligence to any camera or sensor hardware, through smart OmniCore EyeMotion software.
