Researchers at Lingnan University in Hong Kong built on a free sanitation service for more than 1,000 subsidized apartments for their Autonomous UV-C Disinfection Robot. They said it is more effective than manual disinfection with 1:99 diluted bleach. The robot uses lidar for mapping and obstacle detection. Dr. Albert Ko, director of the Lingnan Entrepreneurship Initiative, said the team is seeking financial support to produce 50 robots by the end of the year to provide free disinfection services.
