Falcon has announced a successful 'go-live' of its automated parcel-sortation system at DTDC's Chennai facility.

Falcon Autotech Pvt. Ltd. today announced that DTDC Express Ltd., one of India’s leading integrated express logistics companies, to automate its parcel-sorting operations at its 1.7 million sq. ft. super hub in Chennai, India.

Noida, India-based Falcon Autotech is a global supplier of intralogistics automation. With more than 10 years of experience, the company said it has worked with innovative brands in the e-commerce, fashion, food and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), automotive, and pharmaceutical industries, as well as courier, express, and parcel (CEP).

Falcon focuses on innovation, implementation

With its proprietary software and hardware integration capabilities, Falcon Autotech said it designs, manufactures, supplies, implements, and maintains warehouse automation globally.

The company added that it has a continuous focus on innovation around its product line for sortation, robotics, conveying, vision systems, and the Internet of Things (IoT). Falcon claimed that it has done over 1,800 installations across 15 countries on four continents.

DTDC and Falcon said they collaborated closely to implement the parcel-sorting system, which included extensive testing and training to ensure a smooth transition to the new system.

DTDC Express sorts 9,000 parcels per hour

DTDC Express said it offers a "comprehensive" range of technology-enabled domestic and international logistics services. The company added that it serves customers across diverse industry verticals.

Using its cross-belt sorter technology, Falcon has designed DTDC's parcel-sorting system. The companies said it can handle 9,000 parcels per hour, operate in a 24/7 environment, and be expanded for future growth.

The new linear cross-belt system uses cutting-edge technology to automate key sorting processes in DTDC's warehouse, including parcel profiling and sorting, explained Falcon.

The system is designed to optimize the space requirements for sorting operations, increase efficiency, and reduce operational costs, the company noted.

“The new sorting system at hubs will be able to create unique bags for 233 locations pan-India with a single configurations," said Abhishek Chakraborty, executive director of DTDC Express. "It has internationally accepted features such as auto scanning and dimensioning, which help us reduce human intervention."

"Overall, we are excited to see the benefits of this technology in action and believe this will help us increase our efficiency and reduce operating costs while improving the overall quality of service to our customers," he said.
